Sensory association game designed to develop various psychological aspects:
– Sense of touch: tactile discrimination through the recognition of textures.
– Acquisition of basic vocabulary related to the textures of objects.
– Tactile memory.
The 16 tactile cards (8 types of textures in pairs) are used to recognize and discriminate between different textures:
Fur imitation / leather
Wood
Plush
Aluminum
Raffia (burlap)
Plastic
Curled velvet
Sandpaper / file
The 16 image cards are used to associate the tactile cards with real objects that have the same texture.
To facilitate the association between the tactile cards and the image cards, there is a self-correction system on the back of the cards:
– The back of the image cards is numbered from 1 to 8 according to the texture type (there are two objects for each texture).
– The tactile cards do not have numbers, but stickers numbered 1 to 8 are provided to stick on the back of these cards. The numbers on these cards must match the images representing the same texture.
The opaque masks are used to carry out texture memorization activities with the tactile cards.
There are 2 tactile cards for each texture and 2 opaque masks, allowing for 2 participants to play simultaneously.
Activities with tactile cards: recognition and discrimination of textures.
The student must choose one card from the set laid out in front of them, touch it with their fingertips, and describe the texture: rough or smooth, warm or cold, hard or soft, etc.
Finally, they must name the corresponding texture (wood, aluminum, sandpaper, fur, curly texture, plastic, raffia, or plush).
With tactile and image cards: texture-to-object association.
One player:
With the 8 tactile cards and 16 image cards on the table, the student must choose one tactile card and select two image cards representing objects with the same texture, placing them next to the tactile card. Once all the cards are matched, check the back to ensure that the numbering of the three cards corresponds.
Two players:
Divide the 16 tactile cards into two groups of 8 (one card for each texture) and do the same for the image cards. Share the 8 tactile and 8 image cards between the players. Each player must match their tactile cards to the corresponding image card (place them side by side and check the back to ensure the match is correct).
With opaque masks and tactile cards: texture memorization.
With the tactile cards on the table, the student must wear the opaque mask and touch the cards one by one with their fingertips to “guess” which texture it is.
Separate the 16 tactile cards into two groups of 8 and ask the masked student to match them in pairs.
